Record lows, biting winds, a consummate bagel shortage - this month's hardships knew no bounds and took no prisoners. Come find out which shoes I ate.
Two slippers and one of those skull sock things. That one needed some seasoning, but the foot fungus added a little...zest to the tongue feel.
Hi, hello, howdy. How're things? The world's moral collapse sure looks good, huh? And the Patriots are back in the Super Bowl - what's your hate level on that? Enough of your Bore-ax, let's talk cheddar! January's have to be the most productive months of the year just across the Western Hemisphere, right? All that hatred from the previous year, guilt from seeing the dreams of your children go unfulfilled, and enlarging love handles all kind of collide into both-end candle-burning for all of thirty days. Well, jokes on you, I was born burning the candle at both ends!
Thusly was this a banger of a month where I finally just killed some projects out-right and continued lathing away on others - and finished some! Panoramic shorts are done-zo for now. There's just too much else going on compounded by my limited art that I felt was losing its luster. They've all ranged from very amazing to "huh?" levels of bad for views, so I'll take the average out of that. Panoramic itself is pulsing swiftly towards the final episodes, and I'm certainly seeing the concept of "diminishing returns" play out in real time.
From a views/listens perspective, that is. A golden rule of content on the internet is that the longer it goes, the smaller the audience shrinks. Thusly thasly, when that audience starts at a couple hundred in the listening department years ago, it's not a shock to see all but the hardcores remaining. I'm also notably bad/uninterested in expanding my marketing arm for the show right now since it's pretty ever-green. That's the beauty of original creations that aren't locked to a specific period: they can get dusty, but can also get dusted, amiright?
What the hell else did I do this month...? Oh, sure, finished a combined 6 scripts - 5 half hours, 1 movie-length. That's neat. I'm beginning to hate my writing idea backlog again, so I've resolved to write a "5-er" (5 pages written or 10 pages edited) every day of every month all this year. For the math nerds at home, that'll be somewhere around 2,400 pages written and/or edited this year. Why are my pupils shrinking to the size of pinholes? Hello!?
It's just time, dude. Yes, there's Project Cleaner. Yes, there's X, Y, and Z, but writing is just the cheesiest (meant in a good way). She's the way the wind blows when the engine's busted, and I shall marry her. And yeah, maybe it too is just time to accept that everything else might be secondary to words-to-paper in my project-filled professional life, even if I'm a grumpy little troll about actually writing sometimes. IT'S MY BRIDGE - GET YOUR OWN BRIDGE!
Speaking of, Project Cleaner is coming down to the details now. Building out the main menu was surprisingly fun given what I have in mind, and I'm coming up on the best part: scaring myself, then scaring others, THEN being bored, then redesigning the scares, then scaring others again. And cleaning, I guess. It's in the project name, so I suppose I better.
The tumble-down list goes screenshots, gifs, trailer, then full demo ready, which is all coming within the next month. Which means a second write-up on it within the next month, which I think I'll sort-of double post here and on Steam. Ugh, there's that whole marketing thing again.... Here's to everything thawing very, very, VERY soon!
