Taco Terror moves forward inch by inch, writing finishes paragraph by paragraph, and the truly spicy among us shall gather all Scoville banners to our call.
The way through the summer was definitely the road less taken. Ne'er did happen the beaches, the sun, nor the metal clack of softball bats...wait, yes they did. All of those happened for me, and yet, the thrusters behind me blazed quite a trail. I'm a real Homer Simpson catching up to Thomas Edison one invention at a time.
One of those inventions was another Dev Diary for Taco Terror, which you can watch here if you have two minutes left to live.
A little more on Taco Terror is just that the wheel is starting to spin again much faster. I'm pounding out the code for the game loops now inside of the Hideout level, which is mostly where the side dishes of the land will cook. By next time I do an update, I'll have all of those* in a nice rough draft state.
Moving on from video games, let's talk about writing - the first love that intermittently takes me back for a few months, then abandons me for Stephen King. After doing/publishing my first seasonal TV show online, I apparently have the patience to do not one but two more of those (albeit without being the four-season chonker that first one was). The first and most complete one is called Writer's Block. Episode one sets it up pretty well as a washed-up author trying to get back into the game after several years and hilarity ensues from there. The main gimmick is that Sam indulges herself into her mental process a little too heavily, which takes her away from the world to write deeper and deeper ideas. The first season is finished (aka I'll look at it again in 3 months and hate it) with punchy comedy and some edge to the visuals. I think it'll be another two seasons after that to be truly wrapped, but those will definitely be part-time children for a while. The other hasn't been on my mind much...so let's talk about movie scripts instead! Curveball!
Two sizzling hotties have slide into the Out box lately - Eat The Rich, which is an action-comedy I'm talking to a producer (!!) about on Friday, and The Horror. That second one is hot off the presses and ready to impress-es; a high schooler named Porcha has to survive on a small island where it seems like no one is telling the truth, and horrible creatures are assimilating everyone she's ever known. No, it's not zombies!
I'm really into that one right now. For those that write, I'm sure you've come across something you penned that just feels like a fire from beginning to end, right? That's this for me, and Writer's Block for that matter. It's nice to feel like my stride's even, powerful, and consistent right now. Lastly and not least-ly, Panoramic's third episode is flying well right now, and the fourth is already in the chamber. I've been cornering my friends to do VO sessions for two episodes at a time instead of one. Gives me more rations that last longer and allows me to pepper their releases out more consistently. I have five more episodes planned to release this year/early next year, then I'll be taking a break to focus more on Taco Terror and prop up some business shindigs, and I'm very excited about the voices I have lined up for those episodes! I suppose at the end of this month, I have to look at the all-mighty calendar and reckon with that, don't I? I honestly haven't looked at it in a while, so I'm sure I'll regret ever making it in the first place. But that's to-do lists, amiright? Things change, empires fall, but the spice horse will always guide us all. Wtf was I smoking when I wrote that draft?
