February Writing Update - The REAALLLL LA BLUES!

What's red, write, and black all over? That's write - some weird dude in a Starbucks lobby writing a screenplay in......Los Angeles

I'm done with LA as a place to live. It's too expensive, the ants hate me, and the perfect weather has a 30 percent chance of complete and utter destruction via nature sometime within this decade. As such, I'm outtie, moving back East sorta and North kinda more. Where to? Somewhere just south of Canada and just north of Mexico.

In any case, that real life junk slows writing to a crawl, plus I've become just a little distracted by Magic cards. My futures stock is now in small rectangles of cardboard. Writing is still pushing along quit nicely from my house made of card wrappers though. I'm working on a small, unique little novel that ponders life through an entertainment medium. It's one of my favorite ongoing projects and will, thankfully, be quite short at the end of the day. More bite-sized projects is exactly what the doctor ordered.

Competition wise, I am currently deep into the trenches of Writing Battle. My three thingys were a Thriller that used a battery and centered around a colony, all limited to 1,000 words. I put together two stories, ditched one, and polished that sucker harshly.

The story is sci-fi and pretty awesome for how short it is. I don't like the ending as much as the rest of the story just because I know it could be bigger and haunting-er. I think everything else in there will carry quite well...I hope. I could go for a win to start 2022.

The plan was to find two more submissions for this month, but an old one has risen from the grave to say that they are re-considering old work in lieu of unforeseen terribleness. Neat! I get a freebie!

So, one more competition, finish some screenplay malarky, and get my Kickstarter up to snuff. Cool comic book stuff is incoming! Until next month...hut-hut - HIKE!
