Heh, whoops. Missed a month there...well, didn't post for a month. Don't worry, I was killing myself over this keyboard still. Just not, you know, being accountable. BUT WHATEVER! Everything's fine - time is an illusion and space will bend to our will one day. Speaking of time, I hate that 2022 is right around the corner. I believe everyone that works for themselves - artists included - have bouts of productivity shame. It's along the lines of "I know what I'm capable of when I focus, and this falls short." Perfectionism, maybe? Definitely. The harsh reality we're told to accept is that you'll never be completely efficient in your time, energy, or output. I disagree with that to a certain point. I believe there is an unhealthy line that pushes you too far into your art, shackling your very existence to it in a way that can never survive the real world. Being attached and detached at once is one of the many, many things you probably wish they taught you in high school. This is all me whining about 2022 being a few calendar rips away. Luckily, I'm not just a whiner, I'm a doer - thus, my head has been down and blinders firmly strapped to face. My list of to-dos is almost absurdly long for the time left, yet I will be slamming head against wall until it's done. Er, close to done. That includes finishing the following: - 9 comic scripts - 53 show scripts - ~30 edits/applying said edits - 5-10 more projects for this very website - ~20 secret project things - a day off - 2 graphic novel scripts - one video game script (the largest project) - one proof-of-concept for a book idea All of that doesn't even include hobbies such as food and occasional sleep. Don't pity me, this noose is self-made.
The competition market usually dries up at large this time of the year, and I believe I've heard back (or been silent rejected) for all of the contests I've entered recently. We'll see if I drop any more wise words, but I'm super, SUPER happy with where I am. I'd love to knock out a screenwriting-based competition if it's there, so I'll be on the lookout. 2022 is going to be a large year, hopefully filled with many more opportunities. However, a small part of me will now and forever wish that it had come a year earlier. Yes, I know, I have my ticket and I'm somewhere in the middle of the line.
